Advancing Architect’s Goals by Electing Effective Leaders
The Architects Political Action Committee (APAC) is the Washington architect’s political voice. We need your donation. More vocal, better financed groups frequently control the agenda. You have the power to change that by helping APAC elect the right people
who share your vision.
In 2009 we made great strides towards sustainability while protecting
architects from increased liability. These strides can be undone if the
right people aren’t in the legislature.
We continue to work to protect the profession and support its ideals.
APAC FAQ’s
Why should I donate to APAC when I already pay dues to the AIA?
Federal law prevents non-profit organizations from donating directly
to political races. We cannot use your dues to support candidates, incumbents
or participate in any election activities. (back to top)
Who determines where the money from APAC goes?
The APAC Board of Directors is comprised of architects from all regions
of Washington State. The board carefully evaluates each race to determine
which candidates are best suited to advance the architect’s agenda. (back to top)
Who does APAC support?
Each candidate and race is carefully evaluated for their impact on the
architects’ agenda. Donations are roughly halved between the two
major political parties. Within each party we give to those legislators
and candidates who share the interests of architects and our particular
concerns. Candidates and incumbents that support our political views on
sustainability, liability, the modernization of licensing laws and other
issues receive APAC support. (back to top)
Who can give to APAC?
In Washington State, any individual or business can give to a political
action committee, the purpose of which is to influence state or local
elections. An architecture firm may donate to APAC as well as individual
architects. (back to top)
