Guiding PrinciplesThe primary goal of AIA Washington Council is to represent the common interests of all of Washington’s architects. The Executive Director, Stan Bowman, is a registered lobbyist maintaining relations with the Governor’s Office, legislators and legislative staff, state agency organizations, consumer groups, and other public bodies. Position StatementsResource Groups Mission Statement It is the mission of AIA Washington Council Resource
Groups to be informed of the substantive and political ramifications of
the issues each undertakes. With that knowledge, members of the Resource
Groups pledge to review legislation dealing with related issues and give
immediate feedback to the Council. That feedback can take the form of
questions, opinions, or shared experiences. Members need to be willing
to work toward consensus on controversial, complex issues. They need,
also, to reach out to other AIA members, bringing them into the discussions
