On the Boards: Legacy Children’s Hospital, Portland, Oregon

Topic: This project on the Legacy Emanuel campus includes a new patient tower to house exist-ing pediatric acute care beds, existing pediatric intensive care beds and a new pediatric emergency department. This building will provide single rooms to replace beds currently housed in double rooms. The 7 level / 250,000 square foot tower will house 96 acute care beds, 24 PICU Beds, 45 NICU beds, 22 short stay and also provides a front door to the Legacy Emanuel Children's Hospital. The hospital is currently operating as a hospital within a hospital on the campus.

Topic: This 492,000 SF hospital, research and support services project is an expansion of the Providence Portland Medical Center campus. It includes new research and all clinical space for Providence Cancer Center as well as space for 250 new beds to support cancer research, surgery and other hospital programs. The goal was to create a world-class interactive research facility where scientists and clinicians collaborate in developing new scientific knowledge and treatment programs. Other project components include over 20 new operating rooms, education spaces, new lobby and support services. Related projects include new parking facility, central plant replacement and the Providence Child Center, (not part of tour).
