These bills make it expensive for firms to operate and pay their bills while making firm employees personally liable for taxes if the firm fails. Taxation on Professional Services - Opposed - Issue Brief (PDF) - Expansion of current taxes or imposition of new taxes would hamper Washington architect's ability to compete nationally and internationally. Modernization of Architecture Licensing Standards - Support - Issue Brief (PDF) - It has been 25 years since the architecture law has been updated. New technologies and modern practice methods have significantly altered the practice of architecture. Restricting Employer Communication - Oppose - Issue Brief (PDF) - This legislation is promoted as a way to protect employees: however would actually stifle free speech and prevent employers from sharing legal, legislative and other information with their employees that could affect them. Interior Design Licensing - Oppose - Issue Brief (PDF) - The AIA|WA supports efforts to raise the level of professionalism in the interior design industry. However, state regulation of this industry is not needed to ensure professionalism or protect the public health and safety. |
