General Admission Requirements -
Any public agency building in the State of Washington is eligible to be nominated.
Agencies may nominate themselves, or be nominated by an AIA member or Component. Although the designing Architect may nominate the project and Public Agency, the award will be given to the Agency for their support quality design.
The award program would include individual buildings, master plans, series of buildings (i.e. school districts, universities) or an agency-wide effort.
Completed projects and approved but uncompleted designs will be eligible for consideration.
Entries must have been completed within the last six yeras. If the entry is a series of buildings, last building in the series must
have been completed within the last six years.
Submittal Requirements -
Entry/Materials Release Form: Complete and return the attached form with the project entry.
Project Narrative: A narrative description in MS Word or PDF format (one to two pages) about the project as a whole.
Image Identifier: A one-page list of descriptions regarding the digital images chosen to display the project.
Images: A maximum of 20 images. The images should depict the project’s design intent as concisely and completely as possible. Each set is to include:
Floor Plan – include graphic scale and north arrow
Site Plan – include graphic scale and north arrow
Sections and Diagrams (optional)
Exterior Elevations
Optional images which can contain drawings, sketches or photos.
Each image title should be descriptive.
Entry Rules and Judging Standards -
Entries will be judged individually, not in competition with each other. The jury will evaluate submissions using a standard jury format evaluating excellence in design for public projects. The AIA|WA shall use the terms “Honor Award”, “Merit Award”, and “Citation Award”. The Awards jury shall solely determine the number of awards of each type.
AIA Washington Council reserves the right to disqualify entries or projects not submitted in accordance with the rules. This includes entries with the architect or firm name showing and entries that do not use the described CD and image requirements. AIA|WA is not responsible for errors in submissions.
